One of the issues facing many Santa performers today is the weight of buckles. A heavy buckle can drag down the belt below the cookie zone, which creates an unflattering and unprofessional look. This buckle comes in at around 11.6 oz and is curved to accomodate the cookie zone.
It is currently only available for a 4 inch belt (see photos for measurements). Though you can wear it with a smaller belt if you don't mind there being a lot of space at the top and bottom of the buckle bar (I wouldn't ever, but you might!).
The buckle comes in a matte gold finish and is constructed of a zinc alloy. If you'd like the "aged" looking version, I can take some brown paint to yours before it ships. Be sure to spray it with a metal sealer when it arrives if you want to keep the "aging" portions from ever wearing off. Simply remove more of the paint by using mineral spirits or paint thinner.
ABOUT THE DESIGN:
This buckle was not designed for me, but for the taller and larger Santas out there who want something different. I originally started designing a "12 Days of Christmas" buckle but that went out the window, trying to figure out how to fit everything in the design will have to wait. I did want to put in some details I like and relate to Christmas. There are acorns on the sides, and I did keep the two turtle doves at the bottom. Is there a greater message than that of PEACE?
With all the flourishes I drew, I wanted to make this buckle special. There are other buckles out there with Scottish thistles, that I am aware of. But this buckle features 4 Scottish thistles and one English Christmas rose. I drew those to commemorate the friendship I have with Santa Melissa Lynn Richard (she being of Scottish descent and I being English).
The Great Snow Goose Buckle features its namesake. What stories can YOU come up with about the Great Snow Goose who lives at the North Pole and assists Santa? Maybe they taught the Reindeer how to first fly. Maybe they carry needed provisions on their back when the sleigh breaks down occassionally? Maybe this bird was a hero and did something amazing, and though no longer with us, this is the way Santa commemorates and remembers that special bird. Make the story whatever you want it to be. It's all yours.
