After a lot of research, development, and sketching, I am pleased to present the Candle Buckle.  One of the issues facing many Santa performers today is the weight of buckles. A heavy buckle can drag down the belt below the cookie zone, which creates an unflattering and unprofessional look. This buckle comes in at around 6oz and is curved to accomodate the cookie zone.

It is currently only available for a 4 inch belt (see photos for measurements). Though you can wear it with a smaller belt if you don't mind there being a lot of space at the top and bottom of the buckle bar (I wouldn't ever, but you might!).

The buckle comes in a matte gold finish and is constructed of a zinc alloy. If you'd like the "aged" looking version, I can take some brown paint to yours before it ships. Be sure to spray it with a metal sealer when it arrives if you want to keep the "aging" portions from ever wearing off. Simply remove more of the paint by using mineral spirits or paint thinner.

ABOUT THE DESIGN:

I've never been fond of 4 inch belts and buckles once I realized how small of a man I am. The buckles just look too big and are too heavy for a 5'8" Santa. I decided to design a lighterweight buckle that I would be happy to wear with a 4 inch belt without it overpowering the rest of the look. I referenced the Coca Cola artwork which had a simple tin buckle, and came to the conclusion that if I could get something different and lightweight made, it may make a difference and take off.

The first step was getting the shape just right. I needed to keep the buckle smaller but also ornamental. I thought much about the old Dutch settlers and what sort of buckles they may have worn and what shape they'd have been made in. I think this buckle would look great in an aged pewter finish, I may make one in that colour (the 3D printed prototypes were mocked up in this colour) and it would be the ONLY buckle I'd have that isn't some sort of golden hue. The shape finally came together, and then I sketched by hand all the elements you see on the buckle. Yes, that's the candle I drew, the North Pole how I see it, and the star of Bethlehem.

The candle is a reference to Matthew 5:14-16

14. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

It is my prayer that the good that Santa Clauses do during the Christmas Season, and throughout the remainder of the year when not wearing the red suit, spreads the love and joy of the Saviour.

But if religion isn't your thing, fret not, the buckle will still fit on your belt too!
